Questions about death?
Everyone has them. Let's talk this fall.
Fall is a most perfect time to seek greater wisdom about dying and death. Days become shorter and temps chillier, asking us to go inside more — inside of our homes, sure — but also inside of our hearts, which are our true home. Trees remind us at this time of year especially to let go of that which no longer serves us. Let fear and fear-based thinking drop gently to Mother Earth for her to re-create into new (different) life soon to be made visible.
I find bare trees incredibly powerful to behold: They are not “dead.” Quite the contrary! They stand leafless precisely so that life is able to burst forth from within them — life that’s already in ceaseless, fully harmonious action inside, on a cellular level — we just have yet to see it become green leaves. No, we are to wait for those, which bloom in spring. Patiently and/or impatiently, we wait for the tree, who is always fully alive and beautiful, unbothered by our perceptions of it as anything other than that. The tree is always perfect, beautiful, and never stops living. JUST LIKE YOU.
I really hope to see you this fall. Fall into love with death (life!) along with me, will you?
In love,
Amy
What is a Death Doula?
It's time to remember how to support each other in dying and death, and the death doula role is instrumental this way. We'll cover the basics — what we are, our vast range of specialties, and how/when to access doula help. Learn why and how we “create and hold space” and how you can, too. Ample time will be reserved for sharing, Q & A, and conversation. If you’ve ever wondered about this role, how you can better support a dying loved one (you don’t need a doula!), and/or had questions about the dying and death process, this is a great opportunity to connect and be in community.

What the Dying Teach Us
The stories that the dying tell us, both literally and figuratively, can help us better understand their experiences and needs. And as caregivers, we can learn to transform these improved understandings into more compassionate caregiving — for both the dying and ourselves. We'll discuss common end-of-life occurrences, using the physical process as a guide for what's concurrently happening emotionally, energetically, and spiritually. This class will be informative for anyone but especially meaningful if you are helping or expect to help a loved one navigate their transition.

Death is Not The End
In this class, we'll discuss a spectrum of evidence that the death of our physical bodies is by no means "the end." Specifically we will talk about what the dying and death processes and near death experiences teach us about ourselves as spiritual beings having a human experience. We are so much bigger, more beautiful, and more powerful than we realize — and dying and death illuminate this fact. Come explore how!
December 10: 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. | $20
Joy of Yoga: A Healing Center
The above classes will be offered at Joy of Yoga: A Healing Center in Brentwood, Missouri. The studio is a light- and love-filled community that welcomes and accepts all. You do NOT need to practice yoga or be a current client of the center to attend. (In fact, the center offers many non-yoga gatherings; check them out!) All gatherings are casual and informal. The only requirement? Leave your shoes at the door. Amy and the Universe take care of the rest.
